Information

Gentle and even irrigation with the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless.

When installed underground, the water reaches exactly where it is needed - the roots of your plants.

Through the capillary forces of the soil, the water is evenly distributed.

Advantages of underground irrigation:

  • Up to 70% water savings compared to above-ground irrigation
  • Very even water distribution
  • Easy installation
  • The area remains usable during irrigation
  • Water seeps directly through the pores to the plant roots
  • The plants above the soil remain dry, making them less susceptible to diseases and pests

Example application with rain barrels/water tanks/reservoirs:

  • The CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is laid over or preferably under the surface to be irrigated.
  • Simply connect it with a 1/2-inch click connector to a supply hose, or directly to a water reservoir.
  • The water reservoir (canister, flower box reservoir, etc.) can be buried for short irrigation lines. This way, the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is directly at the plant roots, providing very economical irrigation without water evaporation. Saves up to 70% water compared to above-ground irrigation.
  • With the various CS Soaker Hose connectors, you can customize the installation according to your preferences.
  • Start with a start connector or regulating valve, then use corner or T-connectors to freely design your irrigation line, and close the end of the irrigation line with a CS end stopper.
  • For multiple lines or larger areas, it is recommended to use large water reservoirs positioned about 30–50 cm higher than the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless. You can easily connect a water filter and irrigation controller to these using click connectors.
  • Maximum installation length of the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is up to 25 meters per irrigation line, when laid level.
  • To extend irrigation lines up to 50 meters, you can supply water from both ends simultaneously.
  • Avoid slopes (water flows uphill poorly without pressure).
  • The CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is frost-resistant and can remain buried during winter. Irrigation controllers and water filters must be dismantled and stored frost-free.

Areas of Application:

  • Anywhere without available water pressure
  • Rain barrels
  • Water tanks
  • Garden irrigation
  • Raised beds
  • Greenhouses
  • Hedges, flowers, shrubs, trees, vegetables...
  • Plants of all kinds

Attention:

The most common causes of malfunctions are:

  • Contaminated water
  • Excessive water pressure
  • Incorrectly set water flow

About WATER QUALITY:

  • Ensure the use of clean irrigation water. We advise against using untreated or greywater without a water filter. With unclean water, the CS Soaker Hose acts as a water filter. After only a few hours of operation, the pores can clog, leading to uneven water distribution. Prolonged use with dirty water can cause complete blockage, rendering the hose unusable.
  • We recommend installing a water filter with at least 125-micron filtration via click connectors to protect the CS Soaker Hose from dirt particles. For heavily contaminated water, a filter with 60-micron or even 20-micron inserts provides better safety.
  • If operating without a water filter, extra care must be taken to ensure the irrigation water is clean!
  • Dirt particles can clog the CS Soaker Hose, cause malfunctions, or even destroy it.

About WATER PRESSURE:

  • For all CS Soaker Hose qualities (CS Pressureless - CS Premium - CS Profi - CS Startup), the maximum operating pressure must not exceed 1.5 bar.
  • Excessive water pressure can damage the membrane: 1. Individual pores may close, reducing and unevenly distributing water output. 2. Cracks or similar defects can occur, leading to total failure.
  • Excessive water pressure can cause malfunctions or destroy the CS Soaker Hose.

About WATER FLOW:

  • For short irrigation lines up to 50 meters per strand, we recommend incorporating a flow reducer to fill the CS Soaker Hose slowly with water.
  • We offer flow-reduced 1/2-inch click connectors or quick hose couplings.
  • The better option is a flow-reduced shut-off valve, allowing you to regulate the water flow per irrigation strand.
  • The shorter the irrigation line, the more important water flow regulation becomes.
  • Too fast inflow affects the uniformity of your irrigation.
  • If your CS Soaker Hose releases too much water at the start of the line and none at the end, reduce the incoming water flow.
  • This allows the CS Soaker Hose to fill gradually, building even water pressure throughout the system.
  • When properly adjusted, the CS Soaker Hose will begin seeping water from the end of the line first.
  • For irrigation lines longer than 50 meters, a CS pressure reducer with a regulating valve is necessary, as the flow-reduced options provide insufficient water for longer lines.
  • Incorrectly set water flow can lead to uneven water distribution.

Important Note!

  • When using the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless directly from a water reservoir, the CS pressure reducer is not required. A flow-reduced regulating valve can also be omitted. However, a simple shut-off valve at the rain barrel is recommended, for example, to clean the water filter.
  • If the height difference between the rain barrel and the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is significant, the water flow should be regulated with a standard regulating valve.
  • The CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is frost-resistant and can remain buried during winter. Water filters and irrigation controllers must be dismantled and stored frost-free.

Installation Tips:

  • The best irrigation results are achieved when the hose is laid straight and buried in the soil.
  • The maximum installation lengths per irrigation strand depend on the hose type and operating method.
  • For retrofitting: Lay the CS Soaker Hose in a trench about 10 cm deep, close to the root zone.
  • For new planting: Simply lay an irrigation strand beneath the plants.
  • For area irrigation: We recommend maintaining a distance of no more than 30 cm between irrigation strands.
  • For lawns, a laying depth of about 18 cm with a 30 cm distance between strands is advisable.
  • Laying depth: Should be adjusted to your plants, ideally just below the roots.
  • Slight bends and gentle curves are possible. For above-ground installation, the CS Soaker Hose should be covered with mulch or similar to protect it from drying out and prevent deposits such as lime.
  • Kinks, tight zigzags, steep slopes, and sharp inclines are disadvantageous and may cause uneven water distribution.
  • Laying in a zigzag pattern reduces the specified installation length per irrigation strand.
  • Every curve slows water flow and impacts the uniformity of water distribution.
  • Circular installation around trees, shrubs, or in flower pots is possible for short irrigation lines.
  • The connection to the CS Soaker Hose: We recommend using a garden hose or PE pipe.
  • PE pipes can also be used as distribution pipes. These can be drilled every 30 cm and equipped with start connectors or regulating valves. This is suitable for reduced-pressure operation (CS Soaker Hose Premium/Profi) and Pressureless. In this case, ensure the operating pressure matches your CS Soaker Hoses.

Information

  • Using clean irrigation water extends the lifespan of the CS Soaker Hose.
  • A new, unused CS Soaker Hose releases slightly more water during the first 50 hours of operation than after the initial phase.
  • After an initial phase of about 50 hours, water output becomes consistent.
  • The amount of water released is controlled by irrigation duration, not by water inflow rate or increased operating pressure.
  • Direct sunlight accelerates evaporation, causing deposits like lime or promoting oxidation in iron-rich water.
  • Water savings and the durability of CS Soaker Hoses are not optimal for unprotected above-ground installation.
  • We recommend burying or covering the CS Soaker Hose to minimize the risk of deposits.
  • Excessive water flow or high water pressure can cause uneven water distribution or damage the membrane of the CS Soaker Hose.
  • The CS Soaker Hose works without a water filter, but clean irrigation water is especially important when operating without one.
  • When reactivating the outdoor water connection in spring, flush the water line first to prevent residues from entering the CS Soaker Hose.
  • We generally recommend using a water filter.

        Advantages of underground irrigation:

        • Up to 70% water savings compared to above-ground irrigation
        • Very even water distribution
        • Easy installation
        • The area remains usable during irrigation
        • Water seeps directly through the pores to the plant roots
        • The plants above the soil remain dry, making them less susceptible to diseases and pests

Example application for faucets or garden pumps:

        • The CS Soaker Hose Profi is laid over or preferably under the surface to be irrigated.
        • Simply connect it with a 1/2-inch click connector to a supply hose or directly to a faucet.
        • The CS Soaker Hose Profi can be buried, placing it directly at the roots of your plants to irrigate efficiently without water evaporation.
        • Water savings of up to 70% compared to above-ground irrigation are possible.
        • With the various CS Soaker Hose Profi connectors, you can customize the installation to your preferences.
        • Start with a water filter, CS pressure reducer, or regulating valve, then use corner or T-connectors to freely design your irrigation line. Close the end of the irrigation line with a CS end stopper for the CS Soaker Hose Profi.
        • An irrigation controller for the CS Soaker Hose Profi can be connected via click connectors after the water filter to enable automated irrigation.
        • Maximum installation length of the CS Soaker Hose Profi is up to 100 meters per irrigation strand when laid level.
        • Avoid steep slopes (water flows uphill with difficulty).

        Areas of application:

        • For professional use
        • System installations
        • Lawns
        • Sports facilities
        • For automated irrigation
        • Also suitable for private gardens
        • Vegetable beds
        • Greenhouses
        • Hedges, flowers, shrubs, trees, vegetables...
        • Plants of all kinds

        Attention:

The most common causes of malfunctions are:

        • Contaminated water
        • Excessive water pressure
        • Incorrectly set water flow

        About WATER QUALITY:

        • Ensure the use of clean irrigation water. We advise against using untreated or greywater without a water filter. With unclean water, the CS Soaker Hose acts as a water filter. After only a few hours of operation, the pores may clog, leading to uneven water distribution. Prolonged use with dirty water can cause complete blockage, rendering the hose unusable.
        • We recommend installing a water filter with at least 125 microns via click connectors to protect the CS Soaker Hose from dirt particles.

        • We recommend installing a CS pressure reducer with a maximum of 15 PSI/1 bar to protect the CS Soaker Hose from overpressure.
        • Excessive water pressure can damage the membrane: 1. Individual pores may close, reducing and unevenly distributing water output. 2. Cracks or similar defects may occur, leading to total failure.
        • Excessive water pressure can cause malfunctions or destroy the CS Soaker Hose.

        About WATER FLOW:

        • For short irrigation lines up to 50 meters per strand, we recommend incorporating a flow reducer to slowly fill the CS Soaker Hose with water.
        • This allows the CS Soaker Hose to fill gradually, ensuring even water pressure throughout the system.
        • When properly adjusted, the CS Soaker Hose will begin seeping water from the end of the line first.
        • For irrigation lines longer than 50 meters, a CS pressure reducer with a regulating valve is necessary, as flow-reduced options may not supply sufficient water for longer lines.
        • Incorrectly set water flow can lead to uneven water distribution.

        Important Note!

        • The CS Soaker Hose Profi is designed for professional irrigation use and is commonly used in such settings. Professional users generally do not require additional clarification. This description is mainly summarized for private users.
        • The CS Soaker Hose Profi is frost-resistant and can remain buried during winter. Irrigation controllers and water filters must be dismantled and stored frost-free.
        • We advise against using submersible pumps, dirty water pumps, or irrigating directly from a water barrel. Agitated irrigation water is heavily contaminated and will clog the pores of your CS Soaker Hose, even with water filtration.
        • Pond water or water with algae is also unsuitable for use with the CS Soaker Hose.
        • Water with high iron or lime content can negatively affect the CS Soaker Hose irrigation system. In such cases, we strongly recommend burying the CS Soaker Hose to protect it from rapid drying due to water evaporation and to prevent associated deposits.
        • The best irrigation results with problematic water qualities have been achieved using the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless in combination with a water reservoir and an appropriate water filter.

        Installation Tips:

        • The best irrigation results are achieved when the hose is laid straight and buried in the soil.
        • The maximum installation lengths per irrigation strand depend on the hose type and operating method.
        • For retrofitting: Lay the CS Soaker Hose in a trench approximately 10 cm deep, close to the root zone.
        • For new planting: Simply lay an irrigation strand beneath the plants.
        • For area irrigation: We recommend maintaining a distance of no more than 30 cm between irrigation strands.
        • For lawns, a laying depth of approximately 18 cm with a 30 cm distance between strands is advisable.
        • Connecting the CS Soaker Hose: We recommend using a garden hose or PE pipe.
        • PE pipes can also be used as distribution pipes. These can be drilled every 30 cm and fitted with start connectors or regulating valves. This is suitable for reduced-pressure operation (CS Soaker Hose Premium/Profi) and Pressureless. Ensure the operating pressure matches your CS Soaker Hoses in this case.

        Information:

        • Using clean irrigation water extends the lifespan of the CS Soaker Hose.
        • A new, unused CS Soaker Hose releases slightly more water during the first 50 hours of operation compared to after the initial phase.
        • After an initial phase of approximately 50 hours, water output becomes consistent.
        • The amount of water released is controlled by irrigation duration, not by the water inflow rate or increased operating pressure.
        • Direct sunlight accelerates evaporation, leading to deposits such as lime or promoting oxidation in iron-rich water.
        • Water savings and durability of the CS Soaker Hoses are not optimal for unprotected above-ground installation.
        • We recommend burying or covering the CS Soaker Hose to reduce the risk of deposits.
        • Excessive water flow or high water pressure can cause uneven water distribution or damage the membrane of the CS Soaker Hose.
        • The CS Soaker Hose works without a water filter; however, clean irrigation water is especially important when operating without one.
        • When reactivating the outdoor water connection in spring, flush the water lines first to prevent residues from entering the CS Soaker Hose.
        • We generally recommend using a water filter.

Why does the CS Soaker Hose need a pressure reducer?

          • The CS Soaker Hose Startup, Premium, and Profi require a minimum pressure of approximately 0.5 bar to distribute water effectively.
          • Standard household water connections operate at 3.5–4.5 bar, while modern water pumps or pressure booster systems can deliver even higher pressures to cover long distances.
          • The CS Soaker Hose is an irrigation hose designed to work in a low-pressure range (0.5 to 1.1 bar).
          • Excessive water pressure can damage the membrane of the CS Soaker Hose.
          • Excessive water pressure can lead to uneven water distribution.
          • Individual cells may close due to high pressure, reducing water output and causing the pressure to increase further with the same water inflow.
          • Eventually, the CS Soaker Hose will stop releasing water. Cracks may form, and the hose may burst due to overpressure.
          • If the CS Soaker Hose has been operated under excessive pressure, it is typically irreparable and must be replaced.

Safe irrigation operation with a CS pressure reducer.

          • Our CS pressure reducers are preset to a maximum of 1 bar, ensuring that the CS Soaker Hose is protected from excessive pressure.
          • If the water pressure in the CS Soaker Hose becomes too high, the CS pressure reducer automatically regulates it back to the preset operating pressure.
          • The CS pressure reducer is installed before the CS Soaker Hose line.
          • The direction of the arrow on the reducer must be observed, as it indicates the flow direction of the water.

CS Soaker Hoses in irrigation operation with a CS pressure reducer.

          • Our CS Soaker Hoses, in the qualities of Startup, Premium, and Profi, irrigate starting from a water pressure of approximately 0.5 bar.
          • Optimal: The filtered water flows slowly into the CS Soaker Hose until it is completely filled.
          • The pressure reducer automatically reduces the incoming water pressure to the desired operating pressure.
          • Water droplets are evenly distributed along the entire irrigation line.
          • Laid above ground and covered with materials like mulch, plants can be watered up to 100 meters per irrigation strand.
          • For even area irrigation with up to 70% water savings compared to surface irrigation, underground installation is recommended.
          • Precious irrigation water is delivered directly to the roots of your plants.
          • The water output from a CS Soaker Hose is regulated by the irrigation duration.
          • If your plants require more water, simply extend the irrigation time rather than increasing the water flow.
          • If your plants require less water, reduce the irrigation time rather than decreasing the water flow.
          • Direct sunlight accelerates evaporation, leading to deposits like lime or promoting oxidation in iron-rich water.
          • Water savings and durability of CS Soaker Hoses are not optimal for unprotected above-ground installation.

          • Warning!
          • Excessively high working pressure can damage the CS Soaker Hose.
          • Additional tools are required for installation: a screwdriver (preferably a gauge to set the desired operating pressure).
          • We also offer the adjustable CS pressure reducer in various pre-mounted versions sealed with Teflon tape.

          Note:

          • The maximum operating pressure of 1.5 bar must be observed when irrigating with the CS Soaker Hose!
          • The optimal operating pressure for irrigating with the CS Soaker Hose Startup, Premium, Profi is 0.5 to 1.1 bar.
          • The optimal operating pressure for irrigating with the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless is 0 to 0.5 bar.

Still experiencing water splashes despite the pre-installed CS pressure reducer?

          • The CS pressure reducer is properly installed, but water splashes occur. Large splashes indicate too much water volume or water entering too quickly.
          • The typical household water supply delivers far more water into the CS Soaker Hose than it can release.
          • The shorter the CS Soaker Hose segment, the less membrane surface is available to release water.
          • The incoming water volume must now be reduced using a regulating valve.
          • The water release rate of the CS Soaker Hose is regulated by the watering duration.
          • If your plants need more water, simply extend the watering duration, not the incoming water volume!
          • If your plants need less water, reduce the watering duration, not the incoming water volume!
          • Optimal: Water flows slowly into the CS Soaker Hose until it is completely filled. Water droplets emerge evenly across the entire length of the irrigation segment.
          • For short irrigation segments of 7.5m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 25m, 30m, up to a maximum of 50m, we recommend installing a flow-reduced quick connector or a flow-reduced quick coupling.
          • This automatically reduces the incoming water volume.
          • With a flow-reduced regulating valve, you can further reduce the incoming water volume and adjust it to individual irrigation segments.
          • A CS pressure reducer with a quick connector and regulating valve is necessary to adequately supply longer irrigation segments of 50 to 100m with water.
          • The CS pressure reducer provides sufficient water for a single irrigation segment up to 100 meters or multiple shorter irrigation segments.
          • For multiple irrigation segments or longer irrigation lengths beyond 50 meters, avoid using flow reduction, as it limits the water supply, preventing the CS Soaker Hose from being adequately filled!

Operating the CS Soaker Hose without a pressure reducer?

          • The CS Soaker Hose can be operated without a pressure reducer.
          • Ensure that your irrigation water is clean, filtered, and flows slowly into the CS Soaker Hose.
          • For short irrigation segments, this is possible with a flow reducer or, preferably, a flow-reduced regulating valve. Both reduce the incoming water volume.
          • As the CS Soaker Hose simultaneously releases water, the operating pressure in the irrigation hose decreases.
          • The water must not flow in faster than the CS Soaker Hose can release it; otherwise, the water pressure will rise again.
          • Neglecting this can quickly exceed the permissible operating pressure, leading to membrane damage.
          • For irrigation without a pressure reducer, we recommend selecting the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless and operating it directly from a water barrel without pressure. More information can be found under "CS Soaker Hose Pressureless Information."

          Warning!

          • The pressure reducer protects the CS Soaker Hose from overpressure and related operational damage!
          • We advise against direct connections (e.g., with a quick connector without flow reduction) to a water tap or garden pump.

General Information about Water Pressure and the CS Soaker Hose:

          • The CS Soaker Hose Startup, Premium, and Profi require a certain minimum pressure to distribute water (approximately 0.5 bar).
          • Typical household water connections operate at 3.5–4.5 bar, while modern water pumps or pressure booster systems can deliver even higher water pressures to cover long distances.
          • The CS Soaker Hose is an irrigation hose designed to operate in the low-pressure range (0.5 to 1.1 bar).
          • Excessive water pressure can damage the membrane of the CS Soaker Hose.
          • Excessive water pressure can lead to uneven water distribution.
          • Individual cells may close due to high water pressure, reducing water output and causing pressure to build up further with the same water inflow.
          • Over time, excessive pressure may cause more pores to close, eventually preventing water from seeping through. Alternatively, cracks may form, and the hose could burst due to overpressure.
          • If the CS Soaker Hose has been operated at excessively high pressure, it is usually irreparable and needs to be replaced.

What is a flow reducer for? When do I need one?

          • For CS Soaker Hose lines up to 30 meters, we recommend using a flow reducer.
          • The flow reducer maintains full water pressure while reducing the water flow rate.
          • Water flows through the flow-reduced quick connector or the flow-reduced regulating valve, which has a reduction disc pressed into it, allowing the CS Soaker Hose to fill gradually with water.
          • This ensures the CS Soaker Hose fills along its entire length before water starts seeping.
          • The flow reducer prevents uneven irrigation or areas where the hose does not seep water.
          • With a flow-reduced regulating valve, you can further adjust the flow rate using the regulating knob.
          • A combination with a pressure reducer is recommended.

When should a pressure reducer be installed?

          • For CS Soaker Hose lines longer than 30 meters, we recommend using a pressure reducer. In longer irrigation lines, a flow reducer alone may not supply sufficient water along the entire length of the hose.
          • The pressure reducer provides full water flow while reducing the water pressure to the required operating pressure of the CS Soaker Hose. The pressure reducers we offer only reduce pressure when connected to a CS Soaker Hose system.
          • Once the CS Soaker Hose system is filled with water and the water backs up to the pressure reducer, the spring mechanism in the pressure reducer adjusts the water pressure to the preset value, depending on the model, between 0.6–0.7 bar or 0.9–1.1 bar.
          • In the adjustable version, water pressure can be manually set between 0.2 and 2.5 bar. However, the incoming water flow should still be regulated directly at the faucet or using a shut-off valve.
          • The incoming water flow should always be adjusted to the length of the CS Soaker Hose line. The pressure reducer protects the CS Soaker Hose.

Why Does the CS Soaker Hose Need a Water Filter?

          • The CS Soaker Hose has tiny pores through which water drips in droplet form.
          • Impure irrigation water can gradually clog these pores.
          • This reduces water output and can lead to uneven irrigation.
          • A water filter protects the CS Soaker Hose from contamination and extends its lifespan.

          Our Water Filters:

          • Water quality is crucial.
          • The dirtier the irrigation water, the lower the micron rating should be.
          • Our water filters are available with the following cartridges: 125 micron, 60 micron, and 20 micron.

          The 125 Micron Water Filter:

          • We offer the 125-micron filter as our standard water filter.
          • It is small and compact in design.
          • This allows quick and easy installation near the CS Soaker Hose line using pre-mounted quick connectors.
          • The built-in filter cartridge is easy to clean.
          • It can be rinsed with clear water.

The 60 Micron / 20 Micron Water Filter (5-Inch Size):

          • It features a transparent filter housing.
          • This allows you to see at a glance how dirty the filter cartridge is.
          • The 60-micron filter cartridge version provides fine filtration.
          • It filters more finely than the 125-micron filter.
          • The smaller the micron rating, the finer the water filtration.
          • The 60-micron filter cartridge can be rinsed clean.
          • The standard model is equipped with two 3/4-inch female threads.
          • We also offer it pre-assembled with a device connector and sealed with Teflon tape, ready to click onto any 1/2-inch quick connector.
          • The water flow direction follows the indicated arrow.
          • If you need a quick connection via a click connector, you can find this as a water filter connector piece in the accessories section.
          • Additional filter cartridges are also available in the accessories section.
          • The 20-micron filter cartridge version provides very fine filtration for heavily contaminated water.
          • This filter cartridge is difficult to clean and should be replaced when heavily soiled.

The 60 Micron / 20 Micron Water Filter (10-Inch Size):

          • The filter cartridge is larger than the 5-inch water filter, extending the maintenance intervals.

          • Additional filter cartridges are also available in the accessories section.
          • The 20-micron filter cartridge version provides very fine filtration for heavily contaminated water.
          • This filter cartridge is difficult to clean and should be replaced when heavily soiled.

          Note:

          • Using clean watering water extends the lifespan of the CS soaker hose.
          • A new, unused CS soaker hose may release slightly more water during the first 50 operating hours compared to after the break-in period.
          • After approximately 50 operating hours, the water output remains consistent.
          • The amount of water released is regulated by the watering duration, not by the inflow rate or increased operating pressure.
          • Direct sunlight accelerates the evaporation of water, which can lead to deposits such as lime or promote the oxidation of water containing iron.
          • Water savings and the durability of CS soaker hoses are not optimal when installed unprotected above ground.
          • We recommend burying or covering the CS soaker hose to reduce the risk of deposits.
          • Excessive water inflow or high water pressure can cause uneven water distribution or damage the membrane of the CS soaker hose.
          • The CS soaker hose also works without a water filter; however, when operating without a water filter, it is especially important to ensure the water is clean.
          • When reactivating the outdoor water connection in the spring, the water line should be flushed to prevent loosened deposits from the idle pipe from entering the CS soaker hose.
          • We generally recommend using a water filter.
