The hose releases water slowly and evenly along its entire length. Moisture spreads through the soil by capillary action and reliably reaches the roots of your plants. This ensures that water is used exactly where it is needed.
For optimal results, the hose should be installed as level as possible. Use underground or beneath a layer of mulch is especially efficient, as this further reduces evaporation and protects the hose.
Installing the soaker hose without protection is not recommended, as it can otherwise dry out too quickly. In addition, foreign particles that are not fully retained by the water filter can settle in the hose and lead to blockages. There is also a risk that the material may become brittle over time.

Note: If you are unsure whether you want to water with mains pressure or pressurelessly, we recommend the Pressureless soaker hose. It can be used for both options. When connecting it to the mains water network, a pressure reducer of approximately 0.69 bar should be used. Due to the higher pressure, water output increases and the watering time must be shortened accordingly.
Note on the table: The maximum installation length describes the recommended total length per connection or per line. Longer runs should be divided into several lines or circuits.

Which version suits your garden?
The easiest way to choose is by answering two questions: Which water source do you use and which area do you want to water?
- Pressureless: without water pressure, for example for rain barrels, water butts or IBC tanks
- Startup: with water pressure, for small garden beds, raised beds and an easy start
- Premium: with water pressure, for mixed garden areas such as garden beds, hedges and perennials

Pressure reducer and water filter
For long term reliable function, water filters and pressure reducers are important components of many watering systems.
- Water filter: protects the soaker hose from blockages caused by dirt particles, sand or organic residues
- Pressure reducer: ensures even and material friendly working pressure in pressure controlled systems
- Especially useful: for longer runs, mains pressure and older water pipes
- Recommendation: for pressure controlled versions, work in the range of about 0.5 to 1 bar where possible
Tips for optimal use
- Install the hose as level as possible and without sharp kinks
- Prefer underground installation or installation covered with mulch
- Use clean water and check the filter regularly
- Plan several lines or circuits for larger systems
- Regularly check connections and hoses for leaks and dirt
- For tight curves, an elbow connector is recommended to prevent kinks and ensure even water flow
Influence of soil type on watering
The correct watering duration depends not only on the soaker hose, but also on the soil type. Different soils absorb water at different rates and retain it for different lengths of time.
- Sandy soil: water drains away quickly. Shorter but more frequent watering cycles are useful
- Normal garden soil: usually balanced water absorption. Start with medium watering times and adjust them as needed
- Loamy soil: water remains in the soil longer or collects in small hollows. Water for shorter periods and use pauses to avoid waterlogging
Check the soil moisture after the first watering cycles and adjust the runtime gradually.

Recommended installation distances
The following values serve as practical guidance for planning soaker hose installation. Depending on soil conditions, the soaker hose releases water approximately 15 cm to the left and 15 cm to the right. A guideline value of about 30 cm spacing between hose rows is therefore well suited for many applications.
- Lawn: approx. 20 to 30 cm spacing between hose rows
- Flower beds and perennials: approx. 30 to 40 cm spacing between hose rows
- Hedges and shrubs: depending on the width and age of the plants, 1 to 2 lines per row
- Raised beds: approx. 20 to 30 cm spacing between hose rows
- Tree cultivation and nurseries: depending on the crop, 1 to 2 lines per row
- Trees: ring shaped installation in the root area or under the tree canopy
The actual water distribution depends on soil type, installation depth and watering duration. As a general guideline, it can be assumed that the soaker hose distributes the water about 15 cm to the left and 15 cm to the right in the soil. This results in a sensible installation spacing of about 30 cm for many applications.
